Closing my eyes, I slowly take a deep breath, focusing on trying to get my heartrate back down to something approaching normal while attempting to tune out the sound of several hundred voices and one not too happy nephew. Taking another slow breath, I can feel my heartrate begin to slow, though how long it will stay like this is anyone’s guess. After all, it’s not every day that you graduate from high school. Opening my eyes, I look over to Marcus, who’s happily signing away with a couple friends. Our eyes connect and he quickly signs me a reminder to just keep breathing. Easy for him to say; he has a machine doing that for him.
